📚 The Pine Barrens by John McPhee – I would not have thought I could enjoy a series on the ecology and peoples of an obscure yet famous, out of the way yet vast, part of New Jersey. Or such a place would be the setting for idiomatic language, proposals for supersonic jet ports, intense but rejuvenating forest fires, requisite tall tales, and remarkably clean water. I guess that’s a point in McPhee’s favor as a writer!
